October Handmade Expo wrap-up

So once again, Selena from Sel's Sewing and I teamed up for a blustery day at the Handmade expo. In the end we had a great day even though the fear of being blown away was apparent, and occassionaly we did have airborn stock.
But we worked around it, and learnt to catch. At least the sun was shining and the skys were a clear as. We were also surrounded by great people this month which always makes a market so much better.

Where to find Fluffy Changes...

Ok so much is happening. But Fluffy Changes is getting busy and diving into this full steam ahead..

This weekend, the 16th October, I can be found at The Handmade Expo, Which is held at the Ipswich Turf club, Brisbane Rd Bundamba (next door to Bundamba Primary School).

Next Weekend, the 24th October, I can be found at The Ipswich Central Markets. This is held in the Ipswich City Mall and Has loads of free (yes FREE) parking. There is also other attractions in the area and some wonderful places to visit whilst you are in Town.

You can also purchase items from fluffy changes through A Beautiful Thing, an online handmade store comprising of talented women from accross Australia. Each Month the store will have a new theme. So keep your eyes pealed to see what comes next at A Beautiful Thing.

Of Course there is always my Facebook page to keep up with the latest and greatest things happening.

New design.

Recently I had a custom order and some customers at The Handmade Expo have asked about summer babies. Well I have come up with some new designs. To hopefully combat this. But in my thought/design process I knew I had to keep my covers absorbant as well as cool. Tough challange.

So here is what I have come up with, a reversable cover. That is pretty and practical.

Expo wrap up

Last Saturday was the September Handmade Expo at the Ipswich Turf Club. Once again the weather was very kind to us, even though it looked like it could rain at anymoment. So the people came out in droves which was wonderful to see. But naughty me (who wasn't my usual self after a not so great start early in the morning) forgot to get the Camera out.

The rainbow set was a hit, even with a cheecky bird who left a nasty surprise on the "spare" burp cloth. Oh well. So was the Panda collection.

Remember people that the ploar fleeces are very seasonal, and whilst I do my best to find the material again. It is not always possible now as it warms up in Queensland.

Thank you to all who came down to visit me on the day. And remember if you saw something that you liked please do not hesitate to contact me reagrding it.

Soulful Sounds Spring festival!

Well yesterday I braved what was one very long day. And didn't my feet tell me that. On Friday we were holding our breaths as it bucketed down at every turn. But when we awoke on Saturday morning the weather was on our side. It was a glorious day to hold a festival. Not to hot, bright sunshine with a cool cross breeze.

Here is our Stall. I do have to thank my neighbour on the day KL Baily artisit for their assistance in getting food and drinks for me and manning the stall when nature called!

My creative space

This week I thought I would share a pair of shorts I made this afternoon for master Thomas using "Hot Rod" quilting fabric for the trims. I Love this checker cotton drill fabric that I found in a little fabric shop in Brisbane. I knew it was just what I was after for these shorts.

The Handmade expo

Well a list minuet decissoin was made to have a stall and share a stall at this months handmade expo. Well I am very happy that I did this. I had the best response ever yesterday. And actually made a profit for the month! (even if I did not share this would have been the case, it just made it better!)
So to my new fans if there was something you saw yesterday and did not buy for one reason or another. I do post or pick-up and can make to order if you did not see just the right colour or pattern. I will do my best to source the fabric you are after, just let me know what you had in mind.

Out of season..

Ok it seems in Australia coral and polar fleeces are highly seasonal. And even though it is still the middle of winter many suppliers are clearing it out! So what fabric I have in this currantly maybe it. Flanel is much easier to come by right now. I have been buying up big on the fleeces this week. But sadly left my run a little late for some of the more popular styles. Big Humph about this today.

Now if there is something a customer particularlly wants I will do my best to hunt it down. (Even if that means calling around the country.) But sadly in my last post I pictured a beautiful coral fleece set, this fabric is no longer available. Yep I cried too then kicked myself for buying such a small amount.

So as I said I would do my best to chase down a fabric, but it does not all ways pan out my way.

My creative space...

Ok for my first post about this I thought I would share with you a project I have been working on outside of sewing.
I like to knit. I am not a flash knitter but I use fancy yarn and that seems to make what I am creating look better. So if you had seen me at the hand made expo this last weekend you would have noticed that I had some knitting keeping my hands warm and active. I have had a bit of a resting week, which involved waiting around ALOT. So I got a lot of knitting done and my awesome shawl is nearly as long as I am tall. (yes I know I am not that tall!).

So with out further ado here is the shawl as of this afternoon.
Now this is only 2/3 done. And Mr Fluffy changes has been told that he has to take me some place special to wear such an elegant shawl. (we shall see if this pans out.) Oh and this is very easy to knit. It is simply plain stich with elegant yarn on HUGE needles.

Handmade Expo

Thank you to all of the people that stopped in to say hi today. And welcome to any new fans. It was definately a cold start to the day this morning (Only 2 degrees C). So things were slow to start, but the day warmed to be a lovely winters' day with none of the nasty wind that we had in the lead up!
Remember that you can order from me via email, or facebook.

But note for the next week I will be out of action. All should be well and good though by next weekend.
